Kohler, Daniel Arsham and the art of bathing
Kohler unveils new, intelligent bathroom systems and an immersive art installation by Daniel Arsham at Milan Design Week 2022
In partnership with Kohler
Founded in 1873, Wisconsin-based Kohler Co is a global leader in the design, conception and manufacture of kitchen and bath products and clean energy solutions. Its latest collection, debuting at Salone del Mobile 2022, presents new bathroom technology design, in contemporary colours and finishes, that engenders wellbeing and luxurious, immersive experiences.
Daniel Arsham and Kohler
Following the successful collaboration between Kohler and Daniel Arsham in the creation of 3D printed sink, Rock.01, is Divided Layers, a large, site-specific installation created by American artist Daniel Arsham is being shown at Palazzo del Senato.
The artwork features stacked panels and 3D-printed clay, combining to form a walkable tunnel with a pond at its centre. ‘The flow of water is experienced in both negative and positive space, regardless of a form’s “function”,’ says Arsham. ‘In Divided Layers, visitors experience being within the sink.’
Rethinking the bathing experience
Kohler’s ‘Statement’ shower
Included in Kohler’s Salone del Mobile exhibition is the new ‘Statement’ shower collection, which brings a range of unique shapes and an array of sizes to the shower. Innovative sprays elevate the showering experience, and universal compatibility means the system works wherever in the world it is installed. Inspired by iconic furniture design, and defined by soft, approachable forms, the collection carries an underlying familiarity while creating striking aesthetics within the bathroom.
‘Anthem’ digital and mechanical valves and controls are meticulously engineered to fit global plumbing standards. These precision systems mean that every aspect of the showering experience is thoughtfully considered and can be tailored to the user’s needs, helping to turn a functional routine into a sensory pleasure.
The digital ‘Anthem’ controls pair with the Kohler Konnect app as part of the brand’s wider range of smart home products, integrating innovative design and quality craftsmanship with personalisation options.
Kohler’s ‘Anthem’ control
Also part of the Kohler Konnect portfolio is the ‘Numi 2.0’ intelligent toilet, which allows you to set preferences for features including a heated seat, warm-water cleansing, drying, lighting and audio to create a spa-like environment within the home. Further features include auto open/close and flush and an embedded voice assistant.
Also available are the ‘Eir’ and ‘Innate’ intelligent toilets, combining optimal personal hygiene with striking, sleek designs. Architectural lines and a rimless bowl define the ‘Veil’ intelligent toilet, which features an integrated bidet, a double siphonic flushing system, a night light and an automated deodoriser.
Kohler’s ‘Occasion’ tap collection comprises elegant basin and bath taps and accessories inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood, and featuring chamfered edges. The ‘Brazn’ bath collection, meanwhile, available in black as well as white, combines the simplicity of minimalism with functional solutions.
Kohler’s ‘Stillness’ bath
The ultimate in bathing indulgence? Kohler’s ‘Stillness’ bath offers an entrancing, intelligent bathing experience through the combination of water and connected technology, aromatherapy, lights and mist. Voice controls or a smartphone app operate water flow, which fills the tub from the bottom and overflows into a surrounding wooden moat. A pre-set function dials in the exact level of water and required temperature for perfect and consistent, repeat bathing. §
